HOW DO YOU DECIDE HOW TO DECORATE AND DESIGN YOUR HOME/YOUR LIFE?

Easy.  E A S Y !

Ask yourself:  If some one spent several days visiting my house, how would I want them to recount their time here?

How you answer that question will give you insight into what your home should reflect about you.  Just remember to throw out pretentiousness and airs.  A real home with well-loved belongings and sunlight streaming through squeaky-clean windows (I need some of those!) filled with the sound of life will impress everytime.  Plus be a place you you will want to nestle into every single day.  It isn’t perfection.  Repeat that, please: it is not perfection.  It is authenticity.  Edit, putter and enjoy the process.
And isn’t home, really, after all, the sum of the people living there?

Stef shared this with me the other day from the movie “The Notebook” (yes, yes, yes, you should see it!).

When Noah’s grown children were trying to get him to move back “home” leaving his wife, Allie, in the nursing facility as she was failing, he said,

“This is my home now.  Your mother is my home.”

Robbin’s Wedding is almost here

Robbin is getting married.  She is bold and bright, simple and playful, timeless and youthful. It will be crisp and clean with a nod to design from the graceful past.   She loves purple and yellow (dare I say “mimosa“??) and mason jars and field flowers.

And she is popular.  She is marrying Jake in front of family and hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of friends.   There are massive amounts of thick white bridal satin going into the design.  White picture frames as small as 5″ x 7″ and as large as 6′ x 8′ (yes, 6-feet by 8-feet) will frame the love they share.  A giant frame “chandelier” will mark the dance floor, a la Anthropologie.

I have lots of inspiration pictures.  We used to own a frame shop and I find I still love them.  All of us gathered our cast-off frames (so it is a “green” event as well) and the wedding will be simply picture perfect!  Here are a few of the images in the file.  Can’t wait to see how it will really turn out in a few days!

Stormie Extreme

Stormie won the t-shirt design contest for Extreme Community Makeover-Denver.  She did a “paint effect” background with a paint brush look coloring in the Denver skyline.

Extreme Community Makeover (www.extremecommunitymakeover.org) is a cool non-profit birthed out of Confluence  (Tredessa’s day ministry) that has beautified and blessed families in the city.

Yay for Stormie!  Good job, sweetie pie.
