‘Cause we were all so young and foolish, now we are mature.
And those were the days of roses, poetry and prose
And Martha all I had was you and all you had was me.
There was no tomorrows, we’d packed away our sorrows
And we saved them for a rainy day.
Do you have to let it linger? Do you have to, do you have to,
Do you have to let it linger?
And there’s no misery ooooooh oooh like the misery
I feel in me, gotta find me an angel in my life
I left my tender seedlings out last night and some frost bit them. *sigh

It’s funny… Since High School, Tom Waits has been one of my favorites. Not because of the vocal quality but because of the message. The older I get, the more I appreciate him and his work.
I know. As a kid, I totally didn’t get that raw sentiment. I mean-I was loving the Partridge Fam for crying out loud. But now -wow. He could write. And he could express it so well musically!
